Ride with us! Our float rental fee of $3,500 includes everything from a professional, insured driver to lights and decorations. Gather your friends and family to form a krewe, as the fee can be shared among riders. All floats are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis, so act fast! Experience New Roads’ newest Mardi Gras tradition with The Krewe of Chemin Neuf’s annual night parade on January 31, 2026. This historic celebration will feature lighted floats, local performances, and a festive atmosphere, making this a family friendly parade. Supporting the Pointe Coupee and West Feliciana Health Services Foundation, the Krewe aims to enhance diabetes education and prevention efforts. Don't miss this exciting addition to Louisiana's second oldest Carnival tradition!
The fun doesn't stop there! Join us for the Chemin Neuf Mardi Gras Festival, a vibrant celebration of culture and community, also taking place on January 31st. This all-day event will highlight the rich history of Mardi Gras in New Roads with family friendly activities and the Sweet Pecan Challenge. Enjoy live music from talented local bands while indulging in delicious food from vendors. The festival aims to bring together families and friends for a fun, educational experience, all while supporting the Pointe Coupee and West Feliciana Health Services Foundation in its mission to enhance diabetes education and prevention.


Elaine Beauregard Hurme, PhD, RN
Florence Elaine Beauregard Hurme, known as Elaine, grew up on a farm in Echo, Louisiana, and earned her nursing degree from Northeast Louisiana University. She furthered her education with a Master’s from Texas Woman's University and a PhD from LSU. Her 40-year nursing career included teaching at Southern University and serving as Chief Nursing Officer at Pointe Coupee General, where she achieved Joint Commission accreditation. Dr. Hurme is a respected community member, has cared for thousands in Pointe Coupee, and actively volunteers for cancer patients and survivors.

Ernest Sneed Jr., MD
Ernest Sneed, MD is a native of New Roads, LA. He currently lives in New Orleans, LA with his wife Roxanne Thompson, MD. Dr. Sneed is a graduate of Tulane University and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He completed his training in the field of internal medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He is a staff physician of the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Healthcare System. Dr. Sneed is a member of the St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church and has been a member of the Knights of St. Peter Claver.

Donna Ewing
Donna Ewing is a renowned chef and talented artist, best known as the co-owner of Ma Mama's Kitchen in downtown New Roads, Louisiana. With a passion for culinary excellence, she expertly blends Creole and Italian cuisines, drawing from her New Orleans roots and the Cajun flavors of Pointe Coupee Parish.
At Ma Mama’s Kitchen, which she runs alongside her daughter, Kim Park, Donna emphasizes freshness and authenticity. With its welcoming atmosphere, Ma Mama's Kitchen has become a cherished local gathering spot where food fosters community connection.
In addition to her culinary achievements, Donna is a gifted artist known for her expressive paintings, which add to the restaurant's creative ambiance.
