Chemin Neuf Mardi Gras Festival
Join us on January 31, 2026, for the annual Chemin Neuf Mardi Gras Festival in downtown New Roads, Louisiana, celebrating the second oldest Mardi Gras celebration in the U.S. This family-friendly festival, which runs from noon to 4 p.m., showcases the rich local culture through music, historical presentations, and culinary competitions.​

At 1:30 p.m., don't miss the Sweet Pecan Challenge, where participants can compete for prizes in pecan-themed categories, celebrating Pointe Coupee’s agricultural heritage. Between 12:30 and 4 p.m., a lineup of Louisiana Zydeco and Swamp Pop bands will entertain, with food vendors offering delicious local fare.

Highlights also include a high school Battle of the Bands at 2:30 p.m., featuring talented musicians from several local schools. Enjoy the vibrant atmosphere, explore the historic surroundings, and take part in a day filled with music, community spirit, and cultural education.

Parking is available at city-owned lots, and the event is supported by local law enforcement to ensure a safe environment for everyone.
